I have come close to being bit by a rattlesnake, a gila monster, a black widow, and a scorpion. I drank the worm once. The smell of tequila makes me nauseous. I have stood on top of a 4,301 m mountain. I have swum through class 3 rapids. I own a large caliber pistol. I once caught a computer hacker that had a government clearance. The soccer team I coach will finish the season with a winning record. One of these statements is a lie. I am not telling which one. Clearly this has a metaphorical level, a political interpretation, and a sci-fi interpretation (is this what Spock used to detect life forms?), but for me it would have been a cool tool in Ireland. I had some shoes with deep traction soles and Ireland has a lot (a lot!) of sheep. I was forever picking sheep dip out of my shoes. Of course my detector would have been going off all the time. But it was a small price to pay to visit such a great place (and the home of my ancestors).
